Making Sense of Sensory Processing Differences

The Autism and Social Communication Team is a West Sussex County Council Team who works to promote the educational, social and emotional development of children and young people with Autism (ASC) and Social Communication Difficulties (SCD).Through partnership with parents, professionals within the educational setting and others involved with the child’s development; we aim to maximise high quality local, inclusive educational opportunities for all children with ASD and SCD.The University of Sussex is a leading research-intensive university near Brighton. They have both an international and local outlook, with staff and students from more than 100 countries and frequent engagement in community activities and services.The Europeon Reaserch Council's mission is to encourage the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to support investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, on the basis of scientific excellence.

Autism and Social Communication Team and the University of Sussex

A 1-day conference on children and adults with sensory differences being co hosted by the Autism and Social Communication Team (West Sussex) and the University of Sussex with support from the Europeon Research Council
Talks on hyper-sensitivity (to sound, light, smell etc), bodily sensitivity (anxiety & heartbeat), autism, & synaesthesia (a ‘merging of the senses’) Including the experiences of people with autism or synaesthesia, and what helps them
