Digital Interaction Design Alumna Ding Wang will discuss her journey to working globally for some of the world's biggest tech companies.

<p>Join Ding as she talks about her journey from DJCAD  in Dundee to Lancaster &amp; Manchester then to Bangalore and now Singapore, working for some of the world&#x27;s biggest technology companies. Ding will discuss how her experience of living in different places has helped to inform her practice as an ethnographic researcher. The evening will be chaired by Dr Paul Gault, Programme Director, Digital Interaction Design. </p><h3>The Speaker</h3><p>Ding Wang is a HCI researcher and ethnographer at Google AI, her current research focus is to explore the intersection of HCI and AI, in particular production, process and labour involved in creating data sets for ML and AI models. Prior to joining Google, Ding worked in Microsoft Research India, where her research projects focused on the future of work and health care, where she researched how chat apps are used in both Indian and Chinese hospitals to manage care work. Ding completed her PhD from HighWire Centre for Doctoral Training in Lancaster University, an interdisciplinary doctoral training centre and her doctoral thesis offers a critical and alternative view on the smart cities through ethnographic interviews with both the experts in the field and citizens. Her journey as an ethnographer and researcher started in Dundee and<a href="https://www.dundee.ac.uk/djcad/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art &amp; Design</a> when she joined first as an exchange student on the Digital Interaction Design course and then as a Masters student in MSc Design Ethnography.   </p><p><strong>This online event is free and open to all. </strong></p><p></p><h3>Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Showcase 2021</h3><p>This event, part of our Graduate Showcase Alumni Speaker Series which consists of four events running from 12 - 19 June , celebrates the achievements of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art &amp; Design’s undergraduate graduates.
