Making UK farming resilient - workshop at FarmED 25 November, Oxfordshire

By Food, Farming and Countryside Commission

Overview

An interactive workshop on the kinds of disruptions that could shape the food and farming sector in the coming decades

**** UPDATE 30/10/25 We've had a great response so far. The project team is particularly looking for arable, poultry, pig, CEH businesses, and people working in the feed, agrichemical and abattoir sectors. Numbers are unfortunately limited ****

It will be a relaxed, interactive day discussing the kinds of disruptions that could shape the food and farming sector in the coming decades—from familiar challenges like drought, extreme heat, and animal disease outbreaks, to emerging risks like cyberattacks, trade wars, and global conflict. We’ll examine how these events would affect your farm and debate practical actions to reduce their impact. Your insights will feed into recommendations for government and industry, with the aim of shaping a more resilient food and farming sector that works for farmers and the public.

The workshop is part of a collaboration between the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission and academic partners from the UKRI-funded project Backcasting to Achieve Food System Resilience.

The day will begin with tea and coffee at 9.30am, with the workshop starting at 10.00am and finishing around 4.30pm.

We’ll provide:

  • A delicious lunch
  • A small payment for your time
  • Coverage of reasonable travel expenses
