Overview

with Pablo Colella Funding, career pathways & lessons from the creative industries

Join Pablo Colella, Founder of Disconnected Bodies, for an open and practical conversation about making creative work, work.

With 20 years' experience across the arts, culture and heritage sectors, Pablo's career has spanned funding, audience development, cultural strategy, education and supporting creatives to build sustainable careers and projects.

Through Disconnected Bodies, his portfolio includes work with organisations including National Maritime Museum, MoMA, Aurora Orchestra, Creative United, Artquest, BIMM and Norwich University of the Arts, alongside independent artists, creative organisations and cultural projects across the UK and internationally.

Pablo also brings extensive experience of the funding landscape, with Disconnected Bodies working across projects and organisations supported by Arts Council England, National Lottery Heritage Fund, National Lottery Community Fund, PRS Foundation, British Council and Erasmus+. In 2025, Disconnected Bodies secured £2.5 million for UK creatives with an 84% success rate, were named Arts and Culture Social Enterprise Winners (London) and contributed to national policy development through Arts Council England and Department for Culture, Media and Sport reviews.

📅 30th September

⏰ 6pm - 8pm

📍 Nest Creperie Brentwood, Pepperell House, 44 High St, Brentwood CM14 4AJ

For Co-Labs, Pablo will draw on this experience alongside his own career journey to talk honestly about funding, finding opportunities, navigating career pathways and the realities of building something independently in a creative industry where there isn't always one obvious route. He'll also touch on how the creative industries are changing, what those changes mean for people trying to build a career now, and how creatives can adapt and find opportunities within an evolving sector.

Expect practical insight, lessons learnt along the way and an opportunity to think differently about how you can make your own creative work, work.

If you’ve got questions, ideas, or just want to feel more confident on the business side, this is one to come to.
