PEAT Outcome - Relevant legal knowledge

OBJECTIVES

Vicarious trauma refers to the psychological effects of working with traumatised people. It is commonly associated with negative outcomes in organisations, including absences, compassion fatigue and burnout. Vicarious trauma is a risk faced by professionals in a variety of settings, but this risk can be mitigated by trauma-informed practice.

In this webinar, Dr Amber Keenan will help the delegate develop a greater awareness of vicarious trauma and how it may present in the workplace. You will gain a greater understanding of risk factors associated with the development of vicarious trauma, the processes that maintain it, and how behaviour is affected. You will develop your skills in recognising vicarious trauma in the workplace, allowing you to anticipate difficulties that may arise. You will be given practical tips and techniques for managing vicarious trauma in your team, improving working relationships and increasing the likelihood of positive outcomes.

The session will also encourage the delegate to consider their own risk of vicarious trauma, how this impacts upon their relationship with their clients and how to reduce it.

DELEGATES

This Zoom webinar is relevant to a broad range of professionals working in, or connected to, a legal firm or legal charitable setting. The webinar is also relevant to non-legal corporate settings, where there is risk of contact with traumatic material.
