The University of Manchester is the proud home of the 2ndConfucius Institutein the UK, a partnership between the University of Manchester, the Chinese International Education Foundation and Beijing Normal University. The main purpose is the teaching of Chinese language through evening classes, school partnerships and teacher training programmes.Manchester Confucius Institute also hosts free public events to promote Chinese language and culture in Manchester. As well as high-profile one-off events we hold regular intercultural activities, webinars, talks at Manchester Central Library and screen Chinese films at HOME as part of the Chinese Film Forum UK.

Join us to practice your spoken Mandarin at these free informal conversation lessons!

Manchester Confucius Institute offers the opportunity to practice Mandarin Chinese and develop an appreciation of Chinese culture at these regular online Mandarin Corner meetings. They are informal lessons at two different levels (Beginner - Intermediate and Intermediate - Advanced) that enable you to get together with fellow classmates, make new friends and discuss Chinese language and culture in a relaxed, friendly environment. Once you register for a session, you can opt in to receive the joining details for every meeting from then on. We will email you the joining link the Friday before the meeting.
