Join the Defence and Security Accelerator(DASA) and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) as they launch a new competition.

<p>The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is launching a new competition to develop a semi-autonomous reconnaissance and survey system to help troops safely and stealthily advance into enemy territory over water. </p><p>The military need to be able to cross obstacles such as rivers, streams, bogs and other so-called ‘wet gaps’. Currently, the only way of identifying suitable crossing points is to send Royal Engineer reconnaissance troops to survey both banks of the river – exposing them to danger which also risks compromising the operation by signalling interest in that location to the enemy.</p><p>DASA, on behalf of Dstl, is seeking ideas from industry and academia to create a new remote system capable of surveying potential crossing sites by gathering data about the banks on both sides of the water. </p><p>The launch will take place on 4 February 2020 in Central London and will include an overview of the competition, access to Army Engineers and the chance to identify collaboration opportunities with other potential bidders. </p><h3>Dial-in Event</h3><p>For those who are unable to attend the launch event taking place 4 February 2020, a dial-in session will be held on 13 February 2020. </p><p>This dial-in will provide the overview to the competition, with the competition team, technical partners and military advisors available to take questions in an open forum. </p><p>To register for the Dial-in event, please book via this <a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/map-the-gap-dial-in-tickets-86117354325" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Eventbrite page</a>.</p><p>You do not need to register for the dial-in if you are able to attend the physical launch event on 4 February 2020.  </p><h3>Please note:</h3><ul><li>Registration for the launch event will close 24 January 2020 at 6pm. </li></ul><ul><li>Further event details will be sent in due course. </li></ul><ul><li>The information you provide will be retained by the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) to contact you in regards to this event, and any future DASA communications that may be relevant to you. Dstl will also have access to this information for this event. Please indicate on the registration if this is something you do not wish to do.</li><li>If the event is oversubscribed, DASA reserves the right to limit the number of spaces per organisation. By registering, you are agreeing to your email address being shared with other people who have registered from your organisation to co-ordinate attendance.
