This event celebrates the success of three community map transcription projects.

During 2022, our map transcription volunteers have successfully gathered all of the names from the Roy Military Survey map of Scotland, traced all the paths and tracks in Scotland from the 1900s, and transcribed all the text from detailed Ordnance Survey maps of Edinburgh in the 1890s. We are now formally bringing the projects to a close and would like to thank everyone involved. This closing event will highlight the value of these new resources for a wide range of purposes, through a series of short talks, including those from our collaborating partners, researchers in various fields, and volunteers themselves. It will look at what new research is now possible with these datasets, and our plans for future map transcription projects.
