Mapping Migration Stories

Dr Helen Williams is Associate Professor of Eighteenth-Century Literature in the Department of Humanities at Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Workshop for families using art, painting and calligraphy to tell, express and share migration stories. In this fun -open for all - workshop families will be supported to tell their stories with writing and/or painting and create communal artworks documenting journeys and revealing histories linked to migration. No need for experience as the workshop will be suitable for all ages/skill levels.
Inspired by the Discovery Museum's Destination Tyneside exhibition and facilitated by Dr Rola Naeb, Northumbria University  and Calligrapher and artist Lord Richard-Fou’ad MacLeod.
This event is part of the Being Human festival, the UK’s only national festival of the humanities, taking place 14–23 November. For further information please see beinghumanfestival.org.
Please note: If you are no longer able to come please contact us so that we can reallocate your ticket. As our festival events are free, not everyone who asks for tickets comes to our events. To make sure we have a full house, we allocate more tickets than there are seats. We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people. Admission is on a first-come-first-served basis, so please arrive in good time for the start of the event.
