Market Engagement - Thrive into Work IPS Programme

As the leader of the local NHS, we are responsible for spending almost £1m a day on healthcare for the city's 262,000 registered patients. We commission (buy and monitor) everything from emergency/A&E care, routine operations, community clinics, health tests and checks, nursing homes, mental health and learning disability services. As a commissioner, it is our role to ensure that the services we buy from the many providers of care – including The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Black Country Partnership Foundation Trust – is of the highest quality and appropriate for the health needs of our city.We are a clinically-led organisation comprising 46 member GP practices within the city. This means that local family doctors can use all their experience of the needs and wishes of local patients to make decisions about local health services.

Thrive into Work Individual Placement and Support Programme
The West Midlands Combined Authority is working with NHS England, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), and the Department of Health (DH) to trial IPS services in primary and community care settings. The aim is to test if this model can deliver a transformational improvement in employment, health, and wellbeing outcomes for people out of work with a self-defined long term health condition or disability.
The trial will deploy IPS employment specialists across primary and community NHS services focused on four geographic areas based around CCG geographies: Sandwell &amp; West Birmingham, Birmingham South Central, Dudley and Wolverhampton. It will run from October 2017 to March 2020, hosted by Wolverhampton CCG on behalf of the West Midlands Local Authority.
This event aims to engage with the market for the above services and to seek their opinions on how the service should be framed when it goes out to procurement at the end of June. Providers are advised to ensure that they have downloaded a copy of the draft service specification from the Contracts Finder website as commissioners will be seeking their feedback.
