Marketing Strategy for Micro Businesses

Monday, Jan 12, 2026 from 10 am to 1 pm GMT
Overview

A whistle-stop tour of how to improve the marketing of YOUR micro business.

Feeling like your marketing is a mess? Or just know it could be so much better if you had time to get really strategic with the limited time and resources you have? Maybe you've been relying too much on social media and feeling at the whim of confusing algorithms?

Come join me for a fun and engaging workshop where we’ll demystify marketing strategy and give you the time and space to consider the best ways to reach new dream clients and to understand how to best communicate with your existing customers to benefit your business.

What's the format of the workshop?

This workshop is a fairly fast-paced overview of marketing generally – with time to reflect on your business and set some long term marketing goals. You'll be given a simple worksheet to take notes on (but you may want to bring a notepad and pen, or whatever device you like to note take on).

I will:

  • Demystify marketing strategy
  • Explain some basic concepts of marketing (the customer journey, the 4Ps)
  • Share my insights from working with dozens and dozens of SMEs
  • Give you time to reflect on your business

So that you:

  • Feel more confident marketing your business
  • Understand how to reach new dream clients
  • Consider how to communicate with your existing/past clients
  • Leave with some clear next steps about how to drive forward your business

Who should attend?

  • Micro / small business owners.
  • Early stage marketing professionals working in SME.

I specialise in working with busy female founders and B2C lifestyle, hospitality and tourism* businesses in Derbyshire - particularly those aimed at discerning women - but everyone is welcome.

*Please note that if you are a qualifiying business working in the visitor economy, you can access similar, fully funded training via Visit Peak District & Derbyshire. See the full list of in-person workshops and webinars that I am running for VPDD here.

Venue

The Walled Garden Workshop at Libby's

479 Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield, S40 3AD

Hidden away behind Libby's café and gift shop, is a little oasis of calm and beauty. The Walled Garden Workshop is an inspiring setting with excellent facilities.

Who is delivering the training?

Hello! I'm Molly Scott or @mollyinderbyshire on Instagram. I left a twenty year career in education (with a focus on coaching and staff development), to set up my own business.

I write a blog about Derbyshire called Lovely Local Indie and work freelance to provide consultancy, coaching and DFY service provision.

I've worked with dozens of local SMEs to empower them to develop their social media, marketing and/or PR.
