Masking

Masking

Online event
Friday, June 12  •  1 PM - 3 PM GMT+1
Overview

What is masking? Why do people do it? When can be a supportive strategy as well being detrimental to children and young people?

Join us for an open, thoughtful session exploring the concept of masking — what it is, why children, young people and adults might do it, and how it can be both a coping strategy and a source of stress. We’ll look at the reasons people mask, when it can help them navigate the world, and the moments when it can become exhausting or harmful to wellbeing.

You’ll gain insight into how masking affects daily life, relationships and mental health, not just for the person masking but also for those supporting them. We’ll also share practical, compassionate strategies to help children, young people and adults feel safe enough to lower the mask when they’re ready, and to create environments where authenticity is welcomed and understood.
