Master Class: Damien Roach

Inaugurated in 2007, the Zabludowicz Collection’s London project space presents a varied programme of group and solo exhibitions, commissions and residencies, drawing on works from the collection and new works by artists linked to the collection curated by our team. A public programme of performances, talks, screenings and workshops accompanies every show.

Talk by Damien Roach, part of Master Class, the professional development programme led by the Zabludowicz Collection.

An artist-led professional development programme for eight UK-based, early-career artists, Master Class includes talks given by guest tutors, which are open to the public. From installations to AI, Damien Roach explores his expansive and accomplished practice, which challenges us to rethink the everyday visual forms and structures that surround us. Roach’s sculptures, projections and installations challenge perception and ask the viewer to look at the world in a different way. Roach prompts this re-examination through subtle and sometimes barely noticeable alterations to objects, images and environments.Doors from 6:30pm; talk 7pm-8:30pm.Biography Damien Roach is a London-based artist, researcher and lecturer. His projects span art, design &amp; creative direction, publishing, sound/music and audio-visual, and he is currently Associate Lecturer for London College of Communication’s Visual Media MA programme. Recent projects include immersive AV performances at London’s ICA and Tate Modern, design for clients ranging from Caribou to Disney, and publishing a journal exploring non-dystopic future visions with a host of contributors including Susan Hiller, Isabella Maidment, Hans Ulrich Obrist, and Liam Gillick. He has exhibited internationally, including at the 51st Venice Biennale, ‘Learn to Read’ at Tate Modern, ‘Housewarming’ at Swiss Institute, New York, and solo presentations at institutions including DRAF, London, Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, Arnolfini, Bristol, and Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, Germany.
