An introduction to Frame making and Mount cutting with Emma Geddes
An introduction to Frame making and Mount cutting with Emma Geddes
About the Masterclasses:
We have invited six artists to each lead one Masterclass session each that will introduce key pieces of equipment that will be available to borrow from the new St Helens Arts in Libraries Equipment Library this year.
This Session with Emma Geddes is the Frame making and mount cutting session
The session will cover how to customise an already existing picture frame to fit a piece of artwork. This will include; resizing a frame by dismantling, cutting down and pinning back together, cutting glass and back to fit, sizing and cutting a mount, fitting in artwork, and attaching wall hangings.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Emma Geddes worked as a picture framer for Rennies Arts and Crafts in St Helens; framing items that came through both the St Helens and in Liverpool branches. She is experienced fitting 2D and 3D artwork, canvas stretching, mount measuring and cutting, and textile stretching.
St Helens Borough Council’s Library Service has commissioned Artist Led St Helens to devise and deliver this programme of work. Supported by Arts Council England, thanks to funding from taxpayers, the commission forms part of the Arts in Libraries initiative, helping creatives to develop their practice.
