Our Locus Masterclass series is now firmly established as a must-attend event for the place management industry. We have already visited Sydney, Cape Town, New York, Manchester, Cardiff, and London.Our next Masterclass is on 13th November 2024 at 10.00am will focus on the management and promotion of Britain’s great destinations, including its towns, cities, rural and coastal locations. Many BIDs now cover such areas and new ABIDs are now joining that line-up.The questions to be answered will include: “what makes a great destination; what will help make already great destinations even better; and what delivery vehicles are being employed to maximise the benefits available?” The Scottish government has now permitted ‘transient visitor levies’ – “are they a threat to BIDs or an added weapon in the armoury of cities like Edinburgh?” The UK’s new Chancellor of the Exchequer is reported to have once ruled out visitor taxes modelled on European models – “will the £20 billion black hole change her view?” The last government introduced Local Visitor Economy Partnerships (LVEPs) – “will the new government support these or cut them off at the knees?”In this latest, free to access, on-line, 1-hour session, guests will include Sheona Southern was Managing Director of Marketing Manchester for 8-years during which she helped to promote Greater Manchester to investors, visitors, and conferences/major event organisers. Sheona is now the Destination Director at GC Insight, a role in which she assists other locations in determining their destination management strategies.Other guests will be announced shortly.In addition, we will be announcing the date for our first of our new, free and interactive ‘Masterclass (Light)’ technical coaching sessions. Each will cover a specific topic and will provide you with the opportunity to ask related questions of our experts.
