Mastering Number and Calculation through Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract R...
Mon 5 June 2017, 09:00 – 15:30 BST
Children can find maths difficult because it is abstract. The CPA approach helps children learn new ideas and build on their existing knowledge by introducing abstract concepts in a more familiar and tangible way, allowing them to master maths to a greater degree of depth.
This one day course, aimed at primary teachers and maths subject leaders, will model a cohesive progression of important manipulatives, strategies, activities and games that supprt the most important aspects of the Early Years and Primary maths curriculum.
Particants will experience practical and interactive demonstrations, leaving them confident to embed the good practice back in the classroom and across all phases of their school.
This is a free to attend CPD opportunity open to all Primary Teachers working in schools in the Northumberland, Tyne, Wear and Country Durham areas.
Participants are expected to complete a short pre course questionnaire, and another reflection a month after the session.
Please Note: To ensure that funding is used effectviely, cancellations within 1 week of the course date, non-attendance or failure to return the evaluations, will be charged at £30 per person, invoiced to the school.
Lunch and refreshments are provided.
Langdale Centre has a large free car park.
