Material Matters is the exciting new design fair that celebrates the importance of materials and their ability to shape our lives.

Material Matters is a new design fair based on the critically acclaimed podcast of the same name. Taking place during the London Design Festival, the four day event brings together brands, designers, makers and organisations to celebrate the importance of materials and their ability to shape our lives.The fair takes place across five floors of the iconic Bargehouse at Oxo Tower Wharf, an unadorned but magnificent former factory setting, and features a wide range of exhibits: from an exhibition celebrating an upcoming monograph on the experience-driven strategic design agency LAYER, to a site-specific installation from leading gallery Ruup &amp; Form, featuring work from artist-in-residence, Beatrice Mayfield and other multidisciplinary artists, via displays by innovators and experimentalists whose practice is at the cutting edge of materials, and products from a collection of leading brands. Material Matters also hosts an eclectic programme of talks featuring some of the most provocative names in architecture, design and craft, including LAYER founder Benjamin Hubert, Bethan Laura Wood, Nigel Coates, Adam Nathaniel Furman, curator and future researcher Caroline Till, Naomi Cleaver, and Michael Marriott, as well as a couple of special panel discussions in partnership with the renowned (and robust) architecture talks series Negroni Talks. The Wood Awards is running a partnering exhibition at the gallery@oxo outside the Bargehouse showcasing the 2022 shortlist. Founded in 1971, the Wood Awards is the highest architecture and design accolade of the UK timber. Registration grants you access to both spaces.Visit www.materialmatters.design for details. It is spread across five floors, however there is only step-free access to the rooms on the first floor and second floor via folding platform lifts.
