Material Matters is the exciting new design fair that celebrates the importance of materials and their ability to shape our lives.

About this event

Material Matters is a new fixture on the London design calendar. Based on the critically acclaimed podcast of the same name, the four-day event brings together a slew of world-leading brands, designers, makers, organisations and federations to celebrate the importance of materials and their ability to shape our lives.

Material Matters takes place across five floors of the iconic Bargehouse at Oxo Tower Wharf; an unadorned but magnificent former factory setting. The fair will feature a wide range of exhibits: from site-specific installations to displays by innovators and experimentalists whose practice is at the cutting edge of materials. With a marketplace, a learning space and an extensive programme of talks, the fair will illustrate the latest in material intelligence, application and innovation and address questions such as how the design industry can lead the drive to Net Zero.

Material Matters promises to be a highlight of the London Design Festival and a platform for inspiration and innovation, providing a space to engage in a live dialogue with practitioners, architects and design professionals, as well as interested members of the public.

Opening hours:

Thursday 22 September: 10am - 6pm

Friday 23 September: 10am - 6pm

Saturday 24 September: 10am - 6pm

Sunday 25 September: 11am - 4pm

Bargehouse was built as an industrial space in the late 1920s. It is spread across five floors, however there is only step-free access to the rooms on the first floor and second floor via folding platform lifts.
