The Henry Royce Institute is the UK’s national institute for advanced materials research and innovation. With its Hub at The University of Manchester, the Royce is a partnership of nine leading institutions – the universities of Cambridge, Imperial College London, Liverpool, Leeds, Oxford, Sheffield, the National Nuclear Laboratory, and UKAEA. The Henry Royce Institute is hosting an one‑day showcase exploring the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in materials science on Thursday 19 March in Manchester.The emerging concept of Materials 4.0, in which digital methods are embedded to accelerate the discovery, design, manufacturing and lifecycle management of materials, is a key opportunity to accelerate materials impact. AI will be vital tool to deliver this step‑change across all areas of the materials value chain.The event will bring together academia, research organisations and industry to highlight current capabilities, share best practice and explore future opportunities for the application of AI in materials science.
