<h2>Dates &amp; Time:</h2>Day 1 – Monday 2nd March (9am-3.00pm)Day 2 – Thursday 26th March (1pm to 4.00pm)Day 3 – Thursday 14th May (1pm to 4.00pm)Day 4 – Thursday 4th June (1pm to 4.00pm)Participants need to attend all of the sessions listed above to participate in the project.<h2>Target Audience: SENDCo</h2>Places are limited to one person per school<h2>Programme Outline:</h2>The programme combines 2 ½ days of face-to-face training with structured in-school gap tasks, readings and activities.The SENDCo, will be asked to identify 3 case pupils to track over the course of the project, administering a 1:1 diagnostic assessment and trialling a range of activities to explore concepts in more depth.Day 1 (Counting)Rationale &amp; outcomes for project / Supporting SEND pupils in the mastery context (exploring the 5 Big Ideas and how these can support teaching mathematics to SEND pupils)Barriers for SEND pupils (SpLD, SLCN, working memory, cognitive processing)Early counting (develop pedagogical knowledge and understanding of the early stages of children’s development of counting)Diagnostic assessment (counting) to find out what the children CAN DOCase pupils / action planningDay 2 (Counting &amp; language)Feedback from gap taskExplore some difficulties SEND pupils might have with mathematical language to support countingStrategies and activities to support the development of mathematical languageDay 3 (Developing number sense +/-)Feedback from gap taskNumber sense – supporting the development of addition/subtractionModels and images, mathematical resources and language to supportDay 4 (Developing number sense x/÷)Feedback from gap taskNumber sense – supporting the development of multiplication/divisionModels and images, mathematical resources and language to supportWriting case studies/ next steps<h2>Additional Information:</h2>Refreshments - Tea &amp; Coffee will be served during the day, please bring your own lunchParking - There is car parking available on site
