How can using representations deepen children's understanding of number, and improve their number sense?In this session, we will look at how representations, including the key visual representation of the number line, can be used to enable children to see the magnitude of number, and understand calculations. Delving into the different structures of subtraction and division, as well as contemplating representing fraction calculations, the session equips teachers to select representations carefully, and deploy them effectively in maths lessons.
