Face to Face T﻿raining Event on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (M.E/C.F.S) in Cardiff.We are delighted that this FREE event is funded by National Lottery Community Fund – Wales.I﻿n 2023, living with M.E/C.F.S in Wales is very challenging due to the inadequate and/or inappropriate support received from healthcare and education professionals, and employers. We strongly believe that education is the only way forward for this neglected patient community and are very grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund Wales for enabling this step in the right direction.S﻿tripy Lightbulb CIC&#x27;s training is engaging, up to date, and uses a range of learning styles.By the end of this CPD accredited training event, attendees will know why M.E./C.F.S. is a health crisis in Wales and internationally, how patients are diagnosed with the condition, what the common misconceptions about the disease are, how M.E/C.F.S. presents in patients, why there is stigma and its impact, and know the challenges M.E./C.F.S. presents within healthcare/learning/working environments. Sector specific (healthcare/education/employment) b﻿ilingual resource packs will be given to each attendee. These take-away packs will include solutions to the challenges M.E/C.F.S. poses to YOUR working life.T﻿he event includes guest speakers, over 2 hours of training, lunch, and a Q &amp; A session. Questions will be answered by our Managing Director Sally Callow who has had M.E/C.F.S herself since 2006. has been a M.E/C.F.S campaigner since 2014, and founded Stripy Lightbulb CIC in 2018.W﻿hy should YOU attend?We estimate that prior to the pandemic there were around 12,000 M.E/C.F.S cases in Wales. Due to COVID19, we now estimate there to be at least 30,000 cases in Wales (half of Long COVID cases meet M.E/C.F.S diagnostic criteria). These are your patients, students, and employees - they need you to learn about their disease.This training event is solely for people who have duty of care over people who live in Wales.O﻿ur written content will be bilingual (English/Cymraeg), please note the training will be verbally presented in the English language.S﻿tripy Lightbulb CIC is an award-winning social enterprise that works for the benefit of the M.E/C.F.S patient community. We are an online training company that educates professionals about the disease. As with our online training courses, all learning material will be fully evidenced-based and referenced.C﻿OVID19 - As you will learn during the event, covid19 is triggering M.E/C.F.S in some people and it is an issue we are continuing to take very seriously. We ask that all attendees wear masks when appropriate (lunch/refreshments will be provided) and do a lateral flow test prior to attending. We will ensure the venue is appropriately ventilated.F﻿ILMING/PHOTOGRAPHS - We are delighted that Megan Nelson and Margaux Contant of Aura Ads will be (unintrusively) filming during our event! We are using an &#x27;informed consent&#x27; model, please let Megan or Margaux know if you do not want to be filmed on the day. There will be reminders, re. filming, displayed around the hall. Photographer Jonathan Cane will be taking photographs during the event, we will be asking attendees to sign photography consent forms on arrival.S﻿ee you there!

Agenda

Stripy Lightbulb CIC's Managing Director will talk briefly about the need for education on M.E/C.F.S and about the M.E/C.F.S-related work we have been doing in Wales for the past 15 months.

Introduction

A representative from an M.E/C.F.S organisation will talk briefly about M.E/C.F.S in Wales. Refereshments will also be available at this time.

Guest speaker

The first section of the training will be delivered by our trainer.

M.E/C.F.S Training

Kat Gower will be talking about her experience of being a person living with M.E/C.F.S in Wales, and the support and care she has received. Kat is a valued Stripy Lightbulb CIC volunteer.

Guest Speaker

A film from the Dialogues for M.E/C.F.S project will be screened.

M.E/C.F.S Film Screening

Cardiff-based Earthly Vegans are our suppliers for this event, a delicious range of vegan food will be offered to our attendees.

Lunch

The second section of our training will be delivered.

Refreshments will be provided and it is an opportunity for attendees to 'stretch their legs'.

Coffee Break

The last section of training will be delivered.

M.E/C.F.S Trainng

The training event ends with a question and answer session. Questions will be answered by our Managing Director Sally Callow who is also a M.E/C.F.S campaigner and person living with the disease.
