Join us at The Mill (Community Centre) for the opportunity to meet with the Echo’s tiny but mighty news team which comprises editor Marco Marcelline and Local Democracy Reporter Sebastian Mann. David Floyd, the director of the Echo's publisher Social Spider will also be attending.We’ll be around to listen to any stories whether that's a gripe with the council's parking team, an exciting new community venture, or a whistleblowing account of local government maleficence.We’re also keen to hear from anyone with glowing or critical feedback for the paper, and, if you're thinking of writing for us, or want advice on a career in local journalism then please do come too!This event will be held as part of the inaugural Indie News Week.Launching on 3rd June and running until 9th June the first <a href="https://www.publicinterestnews.org.uk/post/indie-news-week-2024#:~:text=The%20'No%20News%20is%20Bad,helping%20to%20create%20strong%20communities." title="https://www.publicinterestnews.org.uk/post/indie-news-week-2024#:~:text=The%20'No%20News%20is%20Bad,helping%20to%20create%20strong%20communities." target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Indie News Week</a> is a celebration of local news as an important part of the local community.Indie News Week is a new initiative by the Public Interest News Foundation, and various community events run by independent news organisations such as ours will be held across the UK throughout the week.This event also comes as the Echo is about to celebrate its tenth year of being the only independent newspaper serving Waltham Forest, which is a miracle in itself given the ever tight margins and dwindling resources in local journalism.We have never had any significant support from grant making bodies or outside investors, and so this event will also be a chance to find out more about how you can help us by joining our patron and supporter schemes.Refreshments and snacks will be provided.Don't miss out!
