About this event

Join us for an enriching opportunity to engage with The Journal of Applied Psychology (ABS 4* journal) editors and expand your knowledge.Three ways Nova SBE professors and doctoral students can get involved & learn:

  • 10:00-11:00 Informal coffee with the JAP editoral team: Meet and greet with the editors. Come to an informal coffee with the editorial team, including our own Jenny Hoobler. Learn more about the editorial team here: https://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/apl/index?tab=2
  • 11:00-11:30 Open Science Discussion: Gain valuable insights into what top journals seek from authors regarding Open Science practices. What does it mean to pre-register your hypotheses? What does making your code and data available mean and what are the risks and best practices for authors? Get the answers from the top! Hear from JAP Senior Editor, Lillian T. Eby (Univ of Georgia) what top journals want from authors when it comes to Open Science, and have your questions answered.
  • 11:30-13:00 Reviewer workshop: Especially for early-career scholars and doctoral students, come to a Reviewer Workshop. We have all done journal article and conference paper reviews, but are we doing them well? Learn skills for preparing developmental and high-quality reviews. Discuss critical situations/ethical dilemmas that frequently occur in the review process (e.g., when you know who an author is, are currently conducting highly similar research, or strongly disagree with claims made in a paper). Have your questions answered about how one becomes a member of a journal editorial board or an associate editor at a journal. What’s the workload? What’s the benefit to your career?

The event is co-organized by Prof. Jenny Hoobler and the Nova SBE Leadership for Impact Knowledge Center.
