The main attraction in this year's BUFF industry programme is being hosted at The Film & Television Charity's London headquarters in Soho.

BUFF Creative Director, Tamika Martin presents this year's industry programme which returns to London as part of the 19th British Urban Film Festival. The focus of attention (and discussion) is on a growing sector of creatives for whom having multiple titles as a profession is now becoming the norm. Joining Tamika on the panel to discuss the working life of a multi-hyphenate are actress, writer and TV personality Verona Rose; music video, film and TV director Mo Ali and writer, producer and director Jesse Quinones. Verona is a writer-performer who starred in and was in the writers’ room for the latest series of Top Boy on Netflix. Verona may be best known for co-creating and starring in BBC Threesomes series Fully Blown based on two wannabe rappers, which was nominated for a Broadcast Digital Award. Verona is also the host of ITV2 dating show Secret Crush. Verona has been selected as BBC Studios' new Factual Entertainment creator in residence. Other TV appearances include Horrible Histories for the BBC, Sneakerhead for Dave, Dating No Filter for Sky, 8 out of 10 Cats and Celebrity Come Dine With Me for Channel 4, Pants on Fire for E4 and Sorry I Didn’t Know for ITV. Mo started out as an award winning music video director working with some of the most innovative artists in the UK's urban music scene. His feature debut, the post-apocalyptic action-thriller Shank, was released theatrically in 2010; His second feature Montana premiered at BUFF in 2014 and was a searing look at life in the underbelly of London.In 2021, Mo was booked to direct 2 episodes of the Sky TV drama series Cobra starring the likes of Robert Carlyle, Marsha Thomason, Jane Horrocks and Emmanuel Imani (BUFF award-winning actor). In 2023, Mo was booked to direct 2 episodes of the Apple TV drama series Hijack starring Idris Elba, Neil Maskell and Max Beesley. His other list of credits includes UK drama Breathe and documentary Somaliland. Mo has also served as a BUFF patron. Jesse is a writer/director and producer. Originally from Miami, Florida he currently splits his time between London and LA. His most recent feature spec script PENTESTER has been selected to the 2023 Blacklist. He is also developing HEIST OF BENIN, a feature spec set up with Apple TV, with David Oyelowo attached to star. Other projects in development include FAIRFIELD, a YA adaptation with Igeneration, and POSTER BOY, a TV series set up with Buffalo Dragon. In 2024 he will be lead directing on season 15 of Waterloo Road.Jesse's most recent credits include directing Love Is A Stranger, episode 4 of season 8's Inside No 9, which received a 5 Star Review in The Times. He was also lead director on BBC One’s flagship return to Waterloo Road (2022), seasons 11 and 12, for which he was nominated for the Victor Adebodun Award for Best Debut Director at the Edinburgh TV Festival.Jesse's first feature film, Calloused Hands, starred Andre Royo (HBO's The Wire) and Daisy Haggard. Produced through his own company Woolfcub Productions, it premiered at BUFF in 2013 in London's Leicester Square, screening in over 20 festivals around the world, and garnering numerous awards including best feature and director at BUFF 2015. Jesse's second feature film Cagefighter starred Gina Gershon and Chuck Liddell, and was released in select theaters in 2020, followed with a global online release on Crackle.Jesse has also served as a BUFF patron and co-produced BUFF's first feature film No Shade in 2018.
