Background: Insurance for a start up can be a confusing and difficult process. With commercial insurance being so different to simply buying house or car insurance, it can lead to confusion and frustration for founders. This is only exacerbated when these founders are working in an innovative field creating products that are yet to exist and therefore do not easily fit within a tick box that some insurers ask you to complete.
Sam Taylor, a Chartered Insurance Broker, who specialises in working with Technology companies will be discussing what basic covers start ups should have at the beginning of their journey, as well as some covers that they may wish to consider on the horizon as the companies grow and take on external investment as well as how best to navigate everyone’s least favourite time of the year – their insurance renewal period!
Speaker: Sam Taylor is a Chartered Insurance Broker with nearly 10 years’ experience within the insurance industry. He has spent the majority of his career working with the Technology and Life Science sectors from start ups to multi-national publicly traded organisations and has placed cover in over 20 countries around the world. It is this work that has recently landed him on the Chartered Insurance Institute’s New Generation Programme for 2024-25 highlighting the top young insurance professionals across the country.
