Mending Workshop 

My name is Caroline and I am a Swedish Londoner. I am a freelance costume maker for the West End and teach sewing to costume students at Wimbledon College of Art. I hold a degree in costume making and have short courses in Fashion and Pattern Cutting. I have studied and lived all over the world and make London my home. I would like to teach you skills that will give you the power to make do and mend. We can all connect over making stuff with our hands, whatever our age, job, gender, language or cultural background.Here is what a first-time workshopper said about our Basic Sewing Workshop:"Having literally not used needle and thread since the early 2000s, this workshop was a great way to get back in touch with sewing! The instructor is very experienced, highly professional and incredibly patient. She makes sure everybody can learn at the speed they are comfortable with.In just two hours, I have mastered some basic stitches, and, maybe more importantly, learned how and when to apply them.I now know how to fix any undone hems and can also assist you with reattaching buttons!"

I am teaching two mending workshops at Woodlands Farm, as part of the South East London Wool & Textile festival. These one-hour workshops are suitable for adults and teenage children. The aim is to introduce basic techniques you can use to mend your clothes at home, providing an insight into how quickly you can pick up a new skill, and to learn that repairing your clothes rather than trowing them away is worth it! For me, mending means introducing more sustainability into our wardrobes and keeping a valuable skill alive. 
We will practise basic hemming and repairing rips and tears.  
This community festival runs over two days and there are lots of other activities to participate in.
