Merchant Quest

Newry Mourne and Down District Council

Merchant Quest is an interactive game (part treasure hunt, part immersive theatre), led by actors, traders and volunteers, using multiple locations across Newry.  Participants book in adv ance, in group sizes of between 8 & 12, with each team given a time slot at fifteen minute intervals.  Each team starts their journey at the allotted time and uncovers a series of clues which take them on a journey thorugh the town, in and out of shops, cafes and public areas.  The experience lasts an hour.　
 
Please bring appropriate footwear/clothing.  The game is suitable for ages 7+ and each team must include at least one adult. You will be on foot for the majority of the experience, so be prepared for all-weathers.　
 
You are a successful band of merchants trading in one of the busiest ports in Europe. Up against tough deadlines to complete manoeuvres involving commodities of incalculable value, you are extremely vulnerable to attack from pirates, smugglers and bandits. Although you are highly trained in the tactics of trade and strategies of subterfuge, you must expect to encounter a vast array of difficult challenges which will channel your unique ability and test your skills to the limit. And beyond.　
 
Choose your team carefully, pick people you can communicate with verbally, non-verbally, physically, non-physically, visually, non-visually – agents you can trust.  You will be expected to follow leads and read minds.  The minds of mischief-makers.
