About this event
Have you ever wanted to drive or support climate action in your local area, or develop a project to help tackle climate change? Come along to Merton's Climate Action Group Launch on 27th January to find out more about how you can play your part in getting Merton to net-zero carbon by 2050.
Merton's Climate Strategy & Action Plan was approved by Council in November 2020. This sets out the pace and scale of change needed to become a net-zero carbon borough by 2050. With over 98% of the borough's emissions outside the Council's direct control, local residents, businesses and organisations have a huge role to play.
The purpose of Merton's Climate Action Group will be to develop community-led projects that reduce Merton's greenhouse gas emissions, where joint efforts are more effective than the actions of individuals or the Council alone.
The group will support and foster community-led action by encouraging positive networks of people from all parts of the borough, and all walks of life, whose combined resources, skills and expertise can successfully develop and implement projects which reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This meeting will be the official launch of the group and we encourage anyone who's interested in getting involved to come along.
