An evening ramble celebrating the folklore, customs and traditions of Midsummer.
Midsummer Folkwalk:
A companionable circular walk celebrating the folklore and customs of Midsummer.
Led by writer, walking artist and psychogeographer Sonia Overall.
What to expect:
- Welcome refreshments at the White Mill - doors open 7pm.
- An informal ramble along hedgerows and through nature-friendly spaces, exploring Midsummer customs and seasonal plantlore.
- Readings, song and lighthearted ritual actions. Some silent walking and listening.
- Strawberries and seasonal sundowners on our return to welcome in the solstice, drawing on flavours of summer hedgerow and garden.
- A themed goody bag from Creepy Moon and a tiny folk tract to walk with and take home.
Tickets for the folkwalk are limited and must be booked in advance. Details of location and logistics will be sent to ticket holders in advance of the walk.
This is a walk outside, subject to the elements. Please dress appropriately for the weather with sensible footwear.
Suitable for ages 16+.
NB: The walk will go ahead unless weather is so severe as to be unsafe. Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the host.
This folkwalk is hosted by Folk Lore Kent. Ticket price includes a donation to the work of The White MIll Rural Heritage Centre.
