What is Mighty Monster Adventures? An on-line 6-week interactive Mighty Monster Adventure Programme by Relax Kids aimed at children aged 5 - 8 years with ASD or similar issues and involvement of their parent/s or carers is necessary.
During this 6 week term the kids will learn to understand, tame, befriend and manage their BIG Monster emotions! Anger, worry, fear, sadness, panic etc. They will also meet their positive emotions too!
Every week the children will be taken on an adventure, meeting a new Monster and learn about it and how to regulate it. A session starts with more high energy games and movement, slowing working down to a nice calm and relaxed state using fun mindfulness exercises, yoga type stretches, breathing techniques, positive self-talk and visualisations either read by the facilitator or played.
Creative aspects will be incorporated into the sessions, making several craft items, for their Relax Kids box which the children can then use to practice their newly learned skills whenever emotions run high. For example: breathing sticks, calm jars, mindful colouring sheets and make your own worry monster.

This programme comes with lots of colourful handouts and resources on a weekly basis and packs will be emailed prior to each session.

Weekly workshops last one hour and will be delivered every Thursday at 4.30pm via Zoom on the following dates: 25th March/1st,15th, 22nd,29th April & 6th May 2021
Through the OUR Generation Programme this pilot cross border training is available to families within the 5 Urban Village areas in Northern Ireland and families within the CHO 1 area in the Republic of Ireland. Places are limited so please book your place early!

Relax Kids is a pioneering system of teaching children mindfulness and relaxation techniques. With the rise of child stress and anxiety and behavioural problems, Relax Kids (as seen on BBC Dragons’ Den) classes offers children a chance to chill out and relax. The sessions teach children relaxation techniques and tools to help them cope with stress and anxiety whilst building their confidence and self-esteem. Learning relaxation from a young age helps children manage their stress and stay in control and focussed.

The six weekly sessions will take place on Zoom and the link will be sent to you once you have registered. Look forward to seeing you then!Any questions or queries please drop us a line:Claire Heaney-McKee - claire@cooperationireland.org or mobile 07513870237Colm Fanning - cfanning@cooperationireland.org or mobile 07852115118Design & Development Officers, OUR Generation Project, Co-operation Ireland, Unit 5 Weavers Court, Linfield Road, Belfast, BT12 5GH
