Calling all Liverpudlians, migrants and politics enthusiasts! POMOC invites you to a free event with local politicians in Liverpool ahead of this year’s local elections.This is a space where migrants, refugees and asylum seekers can directly engage with politicians and people who work within Liverpool City Council.This is a FREE EVENT featuring a panel discussion, music, poetry, refreshments and a drinks reception.Local organisations and community groups will have tables with informational materials.During the event, you can:<ul><li>Ask questions about issues that matter to you (e.g. housing, mental health, LGBTQ+ services or immigration)</li><li>Learn about elections and how you can register to vote in the future</li><li>Understand how local government works and what support it can offer you</li></ul>Speakers: <ul><li>Kim Johnson, Member of Parliament for Liverpool Riverside, Labour Party *INVITED BUT CANNOT ATTEND*</li><li>Laurence Sidorczuk, Councillor for Wavertree Village and the Liberal Democrats spokesperson for Wellbeing and Culture in Liverpool City Council *STEPPING IN FOR COUNCILLOR ROB MCALLISTER BELL*</li><li>Chantelle Lunt, Councillor at Halewood Town Council for the Labour Party</li><li>John D Howard, Councillor and Deputy Group Leader for the Green Party at Liverpool City Council</li><li>Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council, Labour Party</li><li>Philip Clarke, Our Liverpool Community Development Team Leader and local government officer</li></ul>Facilitators: <ul><li>Masha Goubernik, Ukrainian activist and the coordinator of POMOC’s WeVote campaign in Merseyside</li><li>Kiara Mudane Mohamed Amin, multidisciplinary artist, originally from Somalia, living in Liverpool</li></ul>About the organisersPOMOC is a grassroots political home for Polish migrant women and gender nonconforming people living in the UK to organise together towards dignity, power and justice.
