Miltor Mator Common Work Party

Miltor Mator forms part of the calcareous commons of Stoneycombe and is an important site for the Grizzled Skipper. This species depends on plants in the rose family, including Bramble and Salad Burnet, both of which are present on site. Other notable species include the Common Blue, Meadow Brown, and Gatekeeper.

Aggregate Industries will have already carried out much of the initial clearance, cutting back encroaching bramble and bracken and scalloping the site edges to introduce structural diversity and limit woodland encroachment. Our role will be to address any remaining vegetation and complete the work by raking and piling the cut material to further enhance habitat structure. We’ll be using tools such as saws, scythes, tree poppers, and loppers.

Please note: Whitebeams are present on site and should not be cut.

While tools will be provided, you’re welcome to bring your own, especially in the event of a larger-than-expected turnout.
