Join us for a weekend building time machines. Use medieval sources and modern tech to peer into the past, share your findings and win prizes

King's Manor - University of York

We’ll be in the historic setting of King’s Manor to investigate the Middle Ages through data and technology – with a particular focus on the medieval manor: land owned and traded by powerful nobles whose records give us glimpses of ordinary medieval lives from ale tasters to outlaws.Advice and guidance will be available from historians, archivists and computer scientists from The National Archives and the University of York and we will have a display of original documents from the Borthwick Institute.Our expert panel of judges will determine the winners at the end of the weekend and award prizes fit for a Lord or Lady of the Manor.Make sure you bring your own laptop. Why would historians use it? What can it tell us about the past?•	Introduction to Twine – a tool for digital storytelling, interactive fiction and adventures in text.15:00 Quick catch up from teams so that further advice can be offered15:15 Hacking continues18:00 Pizza18:30 Hacking continues (if participants wish).
