Mindful Self-Compassion, 4-Week Course, Feb 2020

Self-compassion includes the tools of kindness, mindfulness and acceptance. The focus of course will be developing these skills. When we are more self-compassionate we become better able to bounce back from life's challenges and experience greater well-being. We will draw on the work of Germer and Neff (Mindful Self-Compassion), Gilbert (Compassion-Based Therapy), mindfulness training and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).

The trainers

Andy Wilson (MSc Counselling, Bristol; MBA, Warwick; BA, Psychology, Durham; PGCE, UWE) is a counsellor, supervisor and trainer based in Cardiff. He has an evidence-informed approach, in particular drawing on ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (Greenberg and Elliot). Andy has attended Mindful Self-Compassion training with Christopher Germer and Kristin Neff.

Vicki Worsley is an experienced meditator, counsellor, teacher and trainer. She founded Mindful Space in 2009. She trained in mindfulness with Jon Kabat-Zinn (USA), Thich Nhat Hanh (France) and at Bangor University. Vicki has attended Mindful Self-Compassion training with Christopher Germer and Kristin Neff. She has an MA in Buddhist Studies from Bristol University.

Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at anyone who would like to develop self-compassion and mindfulness. It is also suitable for therapists and health professionals who support others.

Course content

We will draw on the work of Germer and Neff (Mindful Self-Compassion), Gilbert (Compassion-Focused Therapy), mindfulness training and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). This practical course includes input, techniques and exercises you can take away, discussion and experiential awareness activities.

Learning Environment

A central part of the learning on this workshop will take place between students, in the group. For this learning to take place it is essential that the group environment is comfortable, friendly and supportive. We see it as a key part of our role to facilitate this environment.

What is the refund policy?

You can cancel your registration up until the first day of the course. There is a cancellation fee of 40%. Once the course has started it's not possible to cancel your place.

Is my registration transferrable?

It's not possible to transfer this registration to another event. You will need to cancel this booking and then rebook on the new event.
