Mindful Writing Workshop
An Invitation to explore the combination of being present, listening, moving gently, being kind to yourself…. and writing
For over 20 years Zana has been attending the Annual Conference of
The Writers’ Summer School in Swanwick, Derbyshire, delivering a
number of courses and workshops. She has discovered that there are
three things which greatly enhance creativity – Mindfulness, Self
compassion and Movement, especially gentle practices like t’ai chi
and qigong.
Whether you have had work published, are writing just for fun or it’s
completely new for you, this workshop invites you to explore all
three. Many people have an inner critic whispering ‘You can’t do this’
but you may be surprised at what lands on the page! Zana was.
There will be some listening, some writing, with prompts for a couple
of the exercises, some gentle t’ai chi movements, a self-compassion
kindness practice and some mindful reflection.
There will also be the opportunity to share your work in pairs or with
the wider group, but only if you wish. Nothing is obligatory.
Bring your favourite writing tools and a clipboard, if you have one, or
something similar on which to lean.
It’s also a good idea to bring layers to wear so that you are
comfortable.
Water, teas and coffee will be available.
