Event description
Mini South East 2030 Game

About this Event

You are invited to attend a short workshop on 8 March to experience a 'taster' for the South East 2030 Event taking place in May.

The South East 2030 Event

Experiential Workshop on how communities in the South East choose to react to the current and future challenges of the Climate and Ecological Emergency, creating new alignments that didn’t exist before the event.

The South East 2030 Event on Saturday 16 May is based on the international UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Game played by over 100,000 people in over 5 continents, including universities, NGOs and community organisations.

The UK, along with most countries, are signed up to these goals - but woefully short of achieving them. Now with climate change such a pressing issue, we need to take matters into our own hands. This event intends to deliver an opportunity for communities in the South East to come up with a plan that works for us all, by creating a common language of understanding and shared vision.

“It helps people loosen up existing roles, and make systemic connections. Instead of what is not possible, they begin to experience what IS possible from a different angle.” Nathaniel Whitestone: Facilitator of the South East 2030 Event

We have ten years to go before 2030. As storms and floods ravage the UK, fires destroy a billion living creatures in Australia, and World Leaders continue to drag their feet on climate change, to protect our planet and our communities we must take action.

What effect does the game have?

Participants experience a change in perspective. Most players finish the game feeling excited, connected and galvanised to take action.

Whether your are working for the Environment Agency, a local Energy Co-operative or volunteering to build flood defences, there is a need to share what is blocking progress. What are the bureaucratic, financial and psychological blocks that get in the way?

Through lively and structured dynamic conversations, can we work together to remove those blocks?

‘The 2030 Game is genuinely fun. With issues as big and intense as these, for some people, having a playful frame is the only way we can cope with it. The Game is a way to do this, It’s a dynamic conversation, to create a shared vision.’ Nathaniel Whitestone: Facilitator of the South East 2030 Event

Please confirm your attendance as places are limited.
