Join us for an evening with political journalist and writer Hooman Majd.
Majd will be discussing his new book Minister Without Portfolio: Memoir of a Reluctant Exile in which he relays experiences from his itinerant childhood as part of a diplomat family, through to his time working for the legendary Island Records label, and a second act as an Iran correspondent for NBC and contributor to publications including New York Times, the FT, and TIME.
Majd's reportage on the higher echelons of Iranian politics has often landed him in difficult circumstances, and to this day he is officially unable to enter the Islamic Republic. As such, the book asks the question: 'How can you build an identity when no place will claim you as its own? '
Julian Borger, senior international correspondent with the Guardian, will interview Majd for the event.
Borger's journalism helped the Guardian win a Putlizer prize in 2014 for public service. He is the author of I Seek a Kind Person: My Father, Seven Children and the Adverts that Helped Them Escape the Holocaust.
