<H2>The <A HREF="https://www.hotosm.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team</A> have made a direct request to our Cambridge Missing Maps community for support for the Cyclone Idai humanitarian response.</H2>
<H2>Our next mapathon will be Wednesday 17th April, but if you have any spare time before the next event feel free to contribute through the Tasking Manager tasks found <A HREF="https://tasks.hotosm.org/contribute?difficulty=ALL&text=Cyclone%20Idai" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</A>.</H2>
<H2><A HREF="https://mapaction.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">MapAction</A> have also set up an appeal to continue the support on the ground. <P>Please join us for this month's mapathon with an evening of humanitarian mapping (and food!). No previous experience required.</P>
<P>On <STRONG>Wednesday 17th April from 6:30pm-9pm</STRONG>, we will be hosting a Missing Maps event in support of <A HREF="https://www.msf.org.uk/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)</A>, the <A HREF="http://www.redcross.org.uk/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Red Cross</A> and the <A HREF="https://www.hotosm.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT)</A>, to help improve maps of vulnerable or disaster affected places. Join us as we help in "Putting the World's Vulnerable People on the Map"!</P>
<P><STRONG>What is it?</STRONG></P>
<P>The aim of the <A HREF="http://www.missingmaps.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Missing Maps Project</A> is to map the most crisis-prone parts of the world. With your time we can directly help humanitarian organisations improve the lives of some of the planet’s most vulnerable people.<BR></P>
<P>Our now monthly event sees around 30 volunteers spare a few hours of their day to support projects ranging from helping end FGM in Tanzania to supporting the Clinton Access Health Initiative elimiate malaria through mapping regions in Zimbabwe and Guatemala. As of December, the Missing Maps Cambridge group has now made over 51,000 additions to the map!</P>
<P>No matter whether you're an experienced Humanitarian Mapper or have never done anything like this before, come along to learn more about OpenStreetMap, GIS and the Missing Maps project.</P>
<P>We will do an introduction on how to map and teach you how to edit OSM and work with the HOT Tasking Manager on mapping tasks.</P>
<P><STRONG>What do I need?</STRONG></P>
<P><STRONG></STRONG>Just a laptop (you must bring your own with you), a mouse and enthusiasm (mouse isn't absolutely necessary but makes the mapping A LOT faster).</P>
<P>No experience necessary. All tools are free and open source.</P>
<P><STRONG>Where is it?</STRONG></P>
<P>This month's venue will be at the <A HREF="https://goo.gl/maps/Fr4dAXKshZ42" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">1815 The Union Bar</A> next to The Cambridge Union.<STRONG></STRONG></P>
