Missing Maps Edinburgh - May Mapathon

The Missing Maps project is an open collaboration that aims to map the most vulnerable places in the developing world, in order that international and local NGOs, and individuals can use the maps and data to better respond to crises affecting the areas.Current members include the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), Medecins Sans Frontieres, the British Red Cross and the American Red Cross.

The Missing Maps Project

Missing Maps in Edinburgh returns at the Old Infirmary Building on Drummond Street on Wednesday 29th May, from 6pm to 9pm. 
The <A HREF="http://www.missingmaps.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Missing Maps</A> project helps Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and and other NGOs by creating maps of the most vulnerable communities, providing a vital resource for their on-the-ground staff as well as local people.
Missing Maps mapathons are open to everyone. You can come and learn how to create maps and contribute to a global mapping project, <A HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenStreetMap" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">OpenStreetMap</A>. All you need is a laptop, some spare time and enthusiasm, and you can take part in humanitarian work from Edinburgh. 
At our Missing Maps event in Edinburgh, volunteers will be on hand to help you learn how to map at your own pace. If you want to know more about how you can prepare for a mapathon, <A HREF="http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Missing_Maps_Mapathons_-_before_the_event" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">this guide</A> gives some tips.
We are being generously hosted by The University of Edinburgh's <A HREF="https://www.ed.ac.uk/geosciences" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">GeoSciences department</A>, with support from <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/euidsoc/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Edinburgh University International Development Society</A> and <A HREF="https://www.esriuk.com/en-gb/home" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Esri UK</A>. We will be there from 6pm, and will be mapping till around 9pm, before we head nearby for some post-mapping drinks!
