Missing Maps Cambridge

Join us for another evening of mapping (and pizza!). No previous experience required.
On Wednesday 15th June from 7pm-9:30pm, we will be hosting a second Missing Maps event in support of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the Red Cross and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), to help improve maps of vulnerable or disaster affected places.
 
What is it?
The aim of the Missing Maps Project is to map the most crisis-prone parts of the world. With your help we can directly improve the lives of some of the planet’s most vulnerable people. 
The last Cambridge event saw around 30 volunteers help map the Mamou Region in Guinea. Our efforts are currently supporting the Guinea Red Cross (GRC) develop integrated, high quality development programmes in the region.
No matter whether you're an experienced Humanitarian Mapper or have never done anything like this before, come along to learn more about OpenStreetMap, GIS and the Missing Maps project. 
We will do an introduction on how to map and teach you how to edit OSM and work with the HOT Tasking Manager on mapping tasks.

What do I need?
Just a laptop (you must bring your own with you), a mouse and enthusiasm (mouse isn't absolutely necessary but makes the mapping A LOT faster).
No experience necessary. All tools are free and open source.
 
Where is it?
June’s event will be held at the popular Hot Numbers Coffee, Gwydir St, Cambridge CB1 2LJ (just of Mill Road) which has kindly been sponsered by 1Spatial.
