Missing Maps Cambridge

<H3>Join us this June for an evening of humanitarian mapping (and pizza!). No previous experience required. </H3>
On Thursday 15th June from 6pm-8:30pm, the Education Reform and Innovation team (Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge) is hosting a Missing Maps event in support of <A HREF="https://www.msf.org.uk/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)</A>, the <A HREF="http://www.redcross.org.uk/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Red Cross</A> and the <A HREF="https://www.hotosm.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT)</A>, to help improve maps of vulnerable or disaster affected places. 
We also plan to squeeze in a post-mapping drink after the event. 
 
What is it?
The aim of the Missing Maps Project is to map the most crisis-prone parts of the world. With your time we can directly help humanitarian organisations improve the lives of some of the planet’s most vulnerable people. 
This event, in conjunction with Cambridge Centre for Global Equality, Missing Maps Cambridge and the Faculty of Education (University of Cambridge), introduces current ideas in how maps are used by organisations around the globe, and how you can make a difference. 
June's event will include talks and workshops from:

<LI>Steve Penson (<A HREF="http://missingmaps.org" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Missing Maps</A> / <A HREF="https://1spatial.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">1Spatial</A>) - "Missing Maps - Putting the World's Vulnerable People on the Map"</LI>

No matter whether you're an experienced Humanitarian Mapper or have never done anything like this before, come along to learn more about OpenStreetMap, GIS and the Missing Maps project.
We will do an introduction on how to map and teach you how to edit OSM and work with the HOT Tasking Manager on mapping tasks.
 
What do I need?
Just a laptop (you must bring your own with you), a mouse and enthusiasm (mouse isn't absolutely necessary but makes the mapping A LOT faster).
No experience necessary. All tools are free and open source.

The Faculty of Education (University of Cambridge) is hosting the June event at the Donald McIntyre Building, Faculty of Education, 184 Hill Roads, CB2 8PQ.
