Event description

Description

Come and spend an intimate afternoon with one of the most recognizable faces on British Television John Judd aka Mr Sands from Scum. Joining John on stage will be Misty Moon's special guest MC and friend of John, David Barry.

John is probably best remembered as the notorious Mr Sands in the film ‘Scum’ and many TV shows like ‘Minder’, ‘The Professionals’, ‘The Sweeney’, ‘Jossy’s Giants’, ‘Juliet Bravo’, ‘The Bill’, ‘Space 1999’, ‘Private Schulz’, ‘Rockcliffe’s Folly’, ‘Operation Good Guys’ and ‘The Prince & the Pauper’. He also appeared as Ena Sharples’ doctor and Fred Gee’s bookie in episodes of ‘Coronation Street’, and even appeared in ‘Crossroads’ (wobbly sets and all!) He played Blind Pew in a TV musical version of ‘Treasure Island’ mostly with his eyes covered!! John has some very good stories to tell, particularly his experience on the film ‘A Bridge Too Far’.

John also appeared in scores of TV commercials and as a voice over artist for ’Inspector Morse’, ‘Poirot’, ‘Dempsey & Makepeace’, ‘Minder’ and ‘The Sweeney’.
On stage John has played everything from ‘Shylock’ in ‘The Merchant of Venice’ to Acting Captain Terri Dennis in ‘Privates on Parade’. His own one man show (plus pianist) based on the lives of Gilbert & Sullivan has played all over the UK, in the West End and on the radio. The show toured Canada where he played to 4 people in one venue and over 4000 in another!! He even had eskimos in the audience in Yellowknife. John has produced and directed pantomimes and appeared as Dame many times. He directed Esther Rantzen in her panto debut. John has also written two stage musicals, one entitled ‘Ello, Ello, Ello’ which was premiered at Oldham Coliseum Theatre. This was based on his experiences as a London policeman. The other musical ‘Bunter’ (which he produced and also directed) was at the Northcott Theatre Exeter. This was based on the comic schoolboy character Billy Bunter.

Before entering show business he was a policeman, PE teacher and driving instructor. He trained at The Guildford School of Acting and started his career as back-end of the cow in pantomime. He has been working his way forward ever since. John is a keen supporter of Crystal Palace Football Club, his agent, bank manager and real ale.

After the Q&A, John will meet and greet with the audience and take part in a paid signing.
