Warm Welcome to a MISUM Practitioner Seminar with Professor Robert Eccles and Secretary General John Howchin

MISUM welcomes you to a practitioner seminar with Harvard Business School Professor Robert Eccles and John Howchin, Secretary General of the Ethical Council (AP1-4).

In this seminar Professor Eccles will present a brief overview of the concept of integrated reporting and the Framework. Results of a study of 26 integrated reports focused on three elements regarded as particularly important for quality integrated reporting: (1) strategic focus and future orientation, (2) connectivity of information, and (3) materiality, are presented along with implications for practice, from both a company and investor perspective.

About Robert Eccles and John Howchin

Robert G. Eccles first joined the faculty at the Harvard Business School in 1979 and received tenure in 1989. He left in 1993 to work in the private sector and rejoined the faculty in 2007. In 2014 – 2015 he was a Visiting Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management. Right after receiving tenure, Professor Eccles started doing research on corporate reporting, a topic which remains of great interest to him from a research, managerial practice, and public policy perspective. He has written four books on this subject, the most recent one is The Integrated Reporting Movement: Meaning, Momentum, Motives, and Materiality (with Michael P. Krzus and Sydney Ribot). He is a member of the Steering Committee of the International Integrated Reporting Committee and on the Board of Directors of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). Dr. Eccles is the co-founder, with Professor George Serafeim, of Harvard Business School, of the Innovating for Sustainability social movement.

John Howchin is the Secretary General of the Ethical Council for the First, Second, Third and Fourth Swedish national pension funds. He is in charge of strategy, research and coordination of corporate engagement of the Council. John is also a member of the asset management committee at Mistra, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research. John has worked with socially responsible investments and corporate social responsibility since 1998. Prior to joining the Ethical Council he worked as senior analyst at Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) in Oslo, Norway, where he was in charge of the environmental strategy. Previous positions include five years at GES Investment Services as deputy CEO and Head of research. He also co-founded Green Index who produced the Folksam climate change index and has worked with environmental management at the Swedish/Swiss company ABB. John has studied environmental science at Goteborg University.

Do I need to check-in when I arrive at the event?
Yes. We ask that all participants register when you arrive at the event. Simply give your name to one of the check-in attendants at the event.

Can I cancel my registration?
Yes. Please send us an email at ResearchOffice@hhs.se. We appreciate if you cancel at least 12 hours before the event, so that we can invite those who are on the waiting list.

What happens if I haven't cancelled and I don't turn up at the event?
We do not charge a "no-show fee". However, if you are frequently absent without previous cancellation, we reserve the right to transfer you to the waiting list if you register for an event that becomes fully-booked. To avoid this risk, please cancel your registration if you cannot attend an event.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?
Yes. If you are able, we appreciate if you update your registration, and enter the correct name and contact information. (See the next question.)

Can I update my registration details?
Yes. Please send us a message to ResearchOffice@hhs.se.
