Event description

Description

The Moncrieff Jones Society warmly invites you to attend their rescheduled annual Christmas lecture on coral reefs, to be given by Max Bodner, a research scientist in Honduras. A summary of the lecture can be found below.

Drinks will be served from 6.30pm, and the lecture will begin at 7.00pm. There will be time devoted to questions at the end of the lecture.

We look forward to seeing you at this fun and informative evening with the MJS.

The dangerous consequences of the decline of the coral reefs is the subject of the rescheduled Moncrieff Jones annual lecture, and will be delivered by Dr Max Bodmer, a research scientist in Honduras who studied biology at Oxford University.

Dr Bodmer is an expert in the field of coral reefs, which are amongst the most beautiful and diverse places on earth. However, like the rainforests, coral reefs are under threat due to human activities; deforestation, over-fishing, global warming and acidification of the oceans are having a catastrophic effect on marine food chains with dangerous but unknown consequences for mankind.

There has never been a more important time to understand the impact of mankind's destruction of the marine ecosystems.
