What happens at a MLWC weekend retreat?

There will be short talks from our team, time spent in small groups, and an opportunity to do some practical things to help us on our healing journey. All those involved in speaking are bereaved parents & some are qualified Grief Specialists. It is a safe place to be among those who understand.

How soon can I come to the retreat after my child dies?

It really depends on what feels right for you. The MLWC team are there to support and listen to you no matter how soon or long ago your child died.

Question 3

How many people will attend?

Accepted Answer

We aim to keep our retreats small and intimate. On average we currently cater to about 10-15 people including the MLWC team.

Question 4

Do I have to attend/engage in all the sessions?

Accepted Answer

Whilst we would encourage you to attend all the sessions to get maximum benefit, you are welcome to engage in as little or as much as you want to. You can listen to others and contribute if you feel able. Take from the retreat what you feel you need

Question 5

Can I come if I experienced a miscarriage or a stillbird?

Accepted Answer

Yes, anyone whose child has died no matter what age or point in their pregnancy is welcome to attend the MLWC support retreat.

Question 6

I am a single parent, can I attend?

Accepted Answer

Couples, single parents and others who come alone because their partner is unable to come or doesn't want to are welcome to attend. 
You can come with a close friend or relative who knows your child well.

Question 7

Do I have to share how my child died?

Accepted Answer

At our MLWC Support retreat you are free to share as much or as little of your story as you feel comfortable with. We will listen without judgement, criticism or analysis

Question 8

I don't want to cry infront of others

Accepted Answer

There are usually lots of tears at our retreats and that’s OK – we always have plenty of tissues. Our retreats are a safe place to be yourself and to express your grief amongst those who really understand. There are usually times of laughter, as well, as we get to know one another.

Question 9

Is this a free or paid retreat?

Accepted Answer

This retreat is made available for free to all attendees of the retreat through the generous donations of our sponsors. However to show your commitment to attend a refundable payment of £50 + Eventbrite fees is required during registration. This will only be refunded to those who attend the retreat.

Question 10

Can I get a refund if I can no longer attend?

Accepted Answer

Refunds are only available to those who attend the retreat as per our terms and conditions. Please email us ASAP so we can fill in the space as it is already paid for. If we are unable to fill your space, we would have to invoice you for the full amount. You can also pass on your ticket.
