It is a fantastic opportunity to explore different techniques - from modelling to construction and casting.
Wax is a versatile modelling medium for making sculpture. During this course students will be encouraged to experiment with the different properties of softer and harder modelling waxes, building architecturally and experimenting with different textures, as well as casting and assembling components from plaster moulds.
Day One
Experiment with three types of modelling wax.
Learn how to model and join wax in sheet form, and how to build a shape on to an armature frame for support.
Look at ways of preparing a finished wax for metal casting.
Follow instructions for the safe handling of hot wax and the tools and equipment best suited for modelling wax sculpture.
Day Two
Cast waxes from plaster two-piece moulds of your own making
Experiment with modelling wax over plaster cores.
It would be ideal for participants to bring along ideas, sketch books or small models they would like to make and any reference materials for ideas.
Please note there will be a 1 hour lunch break each day (lunch not provided).
Open to all levels including beginners.
It is essential to wear old clothes and strong footwear.
Health and Safety briefing will be given.
