Simply Repair South Lakes holds repair events where you can get clothes, small electricals, furniture, toys and other household items fixed free of charge. We bring together people with skills to repair and those who want to learn how. Our aims at Simply Repair is to reduce waste, share skills, improve wellbeing and build communities.We aim to bring you monthly workshops where you can learn a new skill from local hosts and bring people together to share knowledge and skills.

A beginners workshop in the modern Japanese art of kintsugi. Learn how to repair damaged ceramics and transform flaws into unique features.

Come and learn the modern method of Japanese kintsugi with Kendal Repair Cafe’s resident ceramics mender! Yukari will show you how to repair chipped or cracked ceramics using synthetic lacquer and gold powder to restore and enhance your items.Kintsugi ("golden joinery”) treats breakage and repair as part of the history or story of an object. In kintsugi, flaws are enhanced because it is though that these make an object unique and increase it's value.No experience necessary. Class sizes are kept small making sure that everyone gets attention and assistance when needed. All Simply Repair workshops are relaxed, comfortable and open to all.You will learn how to<ul><li>prepare and use adhesive, synthetic lacquer and gold powder in the modern Kintsugi method</li><li>repair cracks and fill chips in ceramic objects such as cups, plates, bowls</li><li>restore broken ceramic items: Yukari will advise which items to work on during the workshop and how to tackle others at home.</li></ul>What to bring<ul><li>1 or 2 chipped, cracked or broken ceramic items in need of repair. If you don't have anything yourself, ask friends and family, or let us know and we will find something for you to work on.</li><li>After booking, please email a photograph of your items to confirm suitability (info@simplyrepair.org.uk).</li></ul>We will provide:<ul><li>all repair materials and tools</li><li>full instructions and guidance on the modern kintsugi repair method</li><li>hot drinks and biscuits (organic and palm-oil free)</li></ul>Concession ticketsBeing accessible and inclusive to everyone is important to us at Simply Repair. All requests are confidential, and we offer a no questions asked policy. We will do our best to accommodate, and in the event where the workshop is already full we can discuss future options.

About Simply Repair South LakesOur making and mending workshops bring people together to learn or refresh a range of repair and crafting skills in a friendly, informal atmosphere led by local tutors and volunteers. We hold repair events where you can get small electricals, clothes, furniture, toys and other household items fixed free of charge.Refunds and CancellationsTickets will be refunded if:<ul><li>the event is cancelled</li><li>the event is rescheduled, and you cannot make the new date</li><li>the event changes location, and you cannot attend</li></ul>If you have been charged a booking fee, unfortunately this cannot be refunded.If you are unable to attend please email as soon as possible and we will access the request on a case by case basis.
