About this event

We're proud to be unveiling Sheffield's newest theatre company - Studio 13, a company comprised of professionally Meisner-trained actors. Come see our graduate group take the stage as they bring to life an eclectic and entertaining mixture of scenes both old and new. From Shakespeare to Succession, from Black Mirror to Ibsen, we've got something for everyone on this night of intimate and captivating performances - a smorgasbord of theatre including the classics and a smattering of new writing thrown in.


The Meisner acting technique, originally developed by Sanford Meisner in the 1930s, is characterised by its attempt to bring truth, life, and reality to every moment an actor is performing, resulting in a strikingly honest and emotionally resonant performance. Studio 13 has been a noteworthy pole of Meisner actor training in the North of the UK since its opening in 2018, and we're very proud to be able to showcase what we've been working on during the past few years and present to you these nights of theatre that are sure to be memorable.

How do I get to Studio 13?

We're located in Castle House, the same building where the newly-opened Department is (previously known as Kommune). From Castle Street, you're able to see our entrance with the word Kollïder on the glass. On performance nights there will be signs and directions on how to get to our studio.

Studio13meisner is an acting studio based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. We provide professional standard actor training at  costs designed to be more affordable for most actors. We teach the acting technique developed by world renowned acting teacher and coach, Sanford Meisner.

We are a not for profit social enterprise comitted to providing access to quality actor training for both new and or or experienced actors regardless of background, We offer a complete acting course which means all our students start with the basics of The Meisner Technique which is then developed through a series of structured exercises into more advanced text anaylsis and scene work.

The Meisner Techique is taught in all major drama schools, universities and colleges across the world. It is unique in that it teaches the actor from the inside out. There are many methods, processes and techniques that teach an actor to act. The Meisner Technique teaches actors HOW to act.
