Moss Coaster Craft Workshop (Adaptive Latch Hook)
Craft a tactile coaster inspired by moss and nature. A calming, hands-on workshop with Dear Crafts in The Almanac Cafe for PUTF 2026
Choose from two of Dear Craft’s signature kits:
Spring Ring – soft greens and whites, like dew on fresh moss
Sunny Nest – warm oranges and yellows, with a yellow centre and green moss-like speckles
What to expect:
No experience needed – complete beginners welcome!
All tools and materials provided – yarns (pompon print yarn, coral fleece, cotton yarn), fabrics (a mesh fabric with printed pattern and a felt fabric as the backing), and tools (small latch hook, thick needle, cross stitch needle & thread, fabric glue & spatula, scissors)
This session is subsidised by the Plymouth Urban Tree Festival!
Small group setting – step-by-step personalised guidance
Three hours of focused, relaxed crafting time - enough time for any beginner to finish their own moss coaster.
Learn new techniques -
- Adaptive latch hook: using the same tool as the traditional latch hook, only with a variety of yarns instead of just the pre-cut cotton yarn
- Fabric tying: Using a thick needle to tie coral fleece and cotton yarn on the mesh fabric to create different layers
- Handmade pom poms without tools
Take home your finished moss coaster + full kit (worth £25) – perfect as a mug rug, mini wall hanging, or display for tiny treasures!
Extra kits available with onsite discount – 1 for £23, 2 for £45
The Almanac Cafe is accessed up a flight of stairs, but access with just one step in available via the back lane should you need it.
While you are there, why not get something to eat or drink and take a look at the Plymouth Urban Tree Festival art exhibition!
