Virtual training for setting staff in Hertfordshire on safe moving and handling of children with physical disabilities

Introducing our Safe Moving and Handling Training for the Children's workforce across Hertfordshire. A Certificated Moving and Handling course specifically designed for school staff working in Mainstream settings who support children with physical impairments.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, this course will be provided as a virtual session via Microsoft teams.

There are face to face sessions available at the Marlowes in Hemel Hempstead which has a more COVID secure environment.

How to book

Please provide the email addresses of the individual attendees. This is necessary for us to send MS teams invitations. This email address will be used to provide additional course material as well as a pre-course workbook which attendees will be expected to complete prior to the session. It is recommended that each attendee has access to a laptop and a good WIFI connection. Attendees may access the course from home or from the school.

This course is specifically for Teachers, LSAs, MSAs and SENCOs across Herts who support a child with a physical and neurological impairment where the child is unable to move without physical assistance. This includes activities where the carer is carrying out any lifting, pushing and pulling tasks. This is not suitable for those seeking training to manage challenging behaviour.

The course will cover legislation, anatomy, biomechanics, ergonomics and basic handling principles. As there are some practical elements, delegates need to wear comfortable, practical clothing and flat shoes.

As a result of attending the training it is hoped that school staff will feel more confident in supporting children to access toileting, equipment, and therapy programmes at school.

This is a 3 hour training course with a certificate.
